Was going thru my Stuff 2day & came across this Newspaper article from 2009. My sister Joyo Mertie Bernard told me about it after she heard it from her co-worker. I asked Kevin Murray to track it down 4 me. I remember Kevin Murray telling me that his co-worker could not believe he & Valdin Legister are brothers. Guess then it’s a good thing I Ratty is the Mother…? Proud of my Likkle Webster who used to tell Ms Abi Angela Christie what he eats from what he didn’t eat back in the days. It takes a Village to raise a Child as the saying goes, so for all those who contributed to my son’s upbringing in anyway. It’s time 4 U all to share in the good times of his achievements. So Sir Hum-Bug – aka Alverie @Michael Legister plz extend my appreciation to Ur other Lady Friend Caroline Ur daughter’s Mum 4 me. Celebration Time Come on>>> Jamaica, Western JA, Westmoreland & Townhead in particular can shout it from the roof tops>>> GaGa Street produce another Great!

Tribute to a Beloved Brother – 15th August 1956-9th April 1994!
My brother Ashter Serener Urella NEMBHARD was the 5th child of my parents Ivan Sandyman and Perline Louise Nembhard. Ashter who was born into a poor working class family was destined to have a few 1st enlisted to his name in his short but packed life. His life was filled with some recognisable achievements and outcomes for which the accolades of the orchestrations were his and his alone. Although his life was cut short, it was packed to the hilt from birth to death with stories that all of his family can be truly proud of. On the 15th August 2014 when he would be celebrating his 58th birthday if his life was not cut short at the tender age of 37. I am more than proud to salute the memory of my beloved brother.
Ashter was born at Townhead on rented premises belonging to the ACKBERSINGH family a stone’s throw away from the Cross Roads, where he spent his early childhood. At the age of 7 the family up sticks moving to live in GaGa Street where Ashter was to spent the rest of his time whilst living in Jamaica. He attended the Townhead Primary School where he got his formal education until he finished his schooling. The rest of his education was picked up along life’s journey and he was a formidable forced to be reckoned with, with his self- thought knowledge. At school he was the atypical Big Boy character that was part of folklore, as well as being the head chef and chief bottle washer.
Ashter owed much to his mentor at Townhead Primary School Teacher URA HEWLING-WELCH, who took him under her wings. She gave him the opportunity to return to TPS, when he could not fit in at Secondary School. Whilst at TPS Ashter was destined to become an advocate for the weaker children who were bullied by the high and mighty bullies of the times. He gave his God given strength to protecting others who were of a fragile dispositions. My brother became the meanest fighting machine of Townhead brucking a fight as quick as one could squint an eye. Most of these fights were never for himself alone, but would be for anyone who needed a little help. Because of his stance about being bullied, having experiences of his own 1st hand. You see he was different like some of his siblings as he was of light complexion with red curly hair and what seemed like the broadest feet, for which he was teased mercilessly.
From a young age he was very stubborn and suffered for his causes. He was never one to put up with foolishness and stood up for what he believed in. This meant he’d either be cussing out whomever pass their place with him or beating the crap out of a gang from one of the local areas single handed. This caused him to tackle the baddest man in Townhead, giving him a beating with the same machete that he tried to inflict a wound on him. Despite his fiery temper, he never held grudges for long and once he’d settled his disagreement with a fight, win or lose… He would be the 1st to lend a hand if anyone needed his help.
After leaving TPS he got a job as a shop assistant with the Moo-Young at Frome. I guess this job enabled him to hone some valuable skills for the roles and responsibilities that he would be accountable for in his short but actioned filled life. Working at the Moo-Young must have exposed and given Ashter a taste for a lifestyle that was different from the one he was born and raised in. This must have caused him to make some of the changes to his life that would put him on the road to achieving some form of greatness. I believe my brother was a visionary who wanted to develop as an advocate of change to his life and others.
The germ of an idea that was planted when he had the opportunity to move in a higher class circle must be responsible for convincing my brother that he could be whatever he chose to be and accomplish great things for himself, family and other less fortunate in the community. After a period of apprenticeship at the Moo-Young Ashter began to show avid interests in politics and became a party activist. He later put himself forward as candidate to be a Parish Councillor and began his campaign in earnest. He was unsuccessful at his 1st attempt, but that did not put him off at all. On the route to becoming a local representatives, he took on other roles to keep himself in the public spot light. He was local correspondent for the Gleaner, worked at the Social Development Commission and took on any other role that took his fancy.
As he tried to further his public role, he would travel all over the island attending meetings, conferences and garnering sponsorships for Youth clubs, etc… By this token he was given the unenviable title of Walker Kick Stone & Company to go with his walking from point A – B. But he was lucky to link with many family whom we’d not normally have known otherwise. On his 2nd attempt at representing the local community as a Parish Councillor the people of the Strawberry Division in Westmoreland voted for him. But I am sure his mentor would not have changed he mind and voted for him, because she claimed he had chosen the wrong party.
I recalled on 1 of my visits home 1 of my sons who was just becoming aware of his uncle’s achievements told me, he thought his uncle had attended High School. Well no such luck as he was self-taught after he finished his stint at Primary School. The message I would like to send to anyone who has a dream that they want to become a reality… Don’t ever give up on your dreams, because my brother never did despite the odds that were stacked against him. He was instrumental in bringing about many changes to benefit the masses of Westmoreland, and even though he left us many years ago. His legacy lives on and his story should be an example to his FAMILY that no one has to continue to let the circumstances of their birth dictate the outcomes of your life. We have to rise up and break the shackles of Poverty that have Enslaved us and make the changes for a better future for ourselves and those around us.
Unity is Strength and I believe in making the right choices that will make the difference. So today on the date when my brother would be 58th years old, I treasure those memories of a truly beloved brother who give of his best for all to reap the benefits.
XXX The Little Sister whose life you have touched in so many ways and made me a better person.

For a brief time, there was a couple with whom I develop a similar relationship with the previous proprietor. I learned the young man is Bob’s nephew and as a result of me addressing him one day, he said that was brother in his Mother Tongue. From then I pick up odd words in their language. I was privilege to be asked to edit the course work of the young lady who was studying. When they were leaving I was introduced the the new couple.
I am more than proud saying that the present proprietors consisting of a husband and wife with a little girl. Please take note they are suited for the business. The place has been transformed and I can recommend this Convenience Store to anyone passing in Bermondsey near Harris Academy Southwark. See https://fight4justiceadvocacy.business.site for more

I was attending Andy Harrington Power to Achieve Live Weekend. The ambiance was great. Sad not to be able to attend the 3 days. Shared with Public
My third visit after attending a wedding the year of Princess Diana’s death and a Domino Tournament at the Wandsworth Town Hall. I attended the S.T.O.R.M. 12th ANNUAL PEACE CONCERT. As per usual I was there early and used the time to interact and socialise, starting with the Security Personnel doing a wonderful job. Even if we did have a few laughs in the process of them allowing me to go in, Security at the Highest Levels, which I am grateful for.
The Venue is fit for purpose. But my main aim of attending was fulfilled in that I arriving early gives me the added opportunity to talk to those people who have their promotions of the various causes.
I was inspired by each and every participant. I am motivated to make the most of my opportunities to listening to people sharing their stories about their experiences. I know about STORM from doing my Learning Support Assistant (LSA) trainings and Volunteering with my LSA Tutor there.
I am so proud of the work that the STORM Team continue to do for the Communities, in giving back and empowering the Young People to achieve their dreams.
I was more than privileged and feel honoured that LEONX whom I meet at STORM remembered and acknowledged me on the night. Things can only get better as we work together for the betterment of the Young in society, who will be the future leaders of tomorrow. Shared with Public

I was visiting for the longest time in many of years. Strangely enough I left from doing my #walkforparkinson at @[194879525472:274:Greenwich Park] to show my face. However, I ended up staying up until about 7 PM before making my way out.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself and having some great memories going back to my childhood. This was especially when I visited 3 stalls doing BEES as a business or past time. My Papa used to be a Bee Keeper.
It was a poignant moment seeing one of my trainers from the former employers who is involved in Bee Keeping. I felt really happy when he came out to give me a big cuddle and we have a reminse about the good old days.
I make friends with another elderly lady and we are thinking of partnership to get out celebrating London.
Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the visit. Shared with Public
Attend for a training course with #AndyHarrington team. I found the facilities suitable and location was easy to find. It’s accessible via different travel format. Shared with Public

I am advocating for an end to Modern Day SLAVERY. Discrimination on any Grounds ruin Employees and their family’s life. Hear My Story and make a difference.
I was inspired to start my Fight4justice campaign resulting from the discrimination I experienced after coming back after the death of my MOTHER. I am thinking of extending into Advocacy to give other vulnerable employees and the downtrodden a voice. Without having Social Media and Facebook in particular to document my concerns when no one else spare the time to listen to me, I know I was empowering myself to be my own Therapist.
It has been a long journey of self discoveries, therefore I am not going to become complacent in believing this won’t happen again. This is the second time I am experiencing such discrimination and I am of the views that by sharing my Transitional Journeys I will be able to provide a Support Network for others. I have had to overcome adversities, but I am more than proud of myself that despite the many challenges, giving up was never an option.
I reached rock bottom on many occasions, but each time I picked myself up, dusted myself off and just got on with living my life to the best of my abilities. The unfair treatments sanctioned by those I trusted meant I eventually had to seek counselling for my Childhood Traumas which led to me experiencing disabilities linked to Mental Health Issues.
I know the only way I can help others is to continue to be honest and open about the issues that affect me and are detrimental to my emotional health and wellbeing. I am viewing all my experiences as yet more transitional developments in this journey call life from birth to death.
One day I hope someone will remember me for doing what’s right by the old fashioned values by which my parents raised me from the time I was born, until their deaths 35 years apart. Hence the reason I would not allow anyone to influence me to do the things that are not right and against the Christian beliefs of my parents. I am a firm believer that God helps those who help themselves. I refuse to sit back idly and expect God alone to do all the work. That’s why I was equipped with a brain. See less
