| Dear Mervelee, Since the start of lockdown, an incredible 17% of the UK population over the age of 18 (8.95 million people!) have got involved in some sort of community activity. In Walworth, that’s looked like thousands of neighbours stepping forward to help one another. From checking in on an older friend to cycling in our food distribution hub and much more. What’s clear is that we’re stronger when we’re connected. We want to stay connected as we rebuild from COVID-19 – a community where neighbours look out for one another and work together to improve our patch. That’s why we’re launching The Walworth Neighbour – a new community newsletter. The Walworth Neighbour will give voice to what matters for our neighbourhood, from thoughts from neighbours on local issues to activities, jobs and volunteering opportunities. We’ll hear from Pembroke House and fellow community organisations, schools, charities, businesses and neighbours about collective efforts to make our neighbourhood stronger. And crucially, we’ll ask: how can we work together for a Walworth where no-one struggles for food and everyone can lead good lives? Like all our activities at Pembroke House, the newsletter will be shaped by the thoughts of our incredible community of locals, participants, volunteers, donors and partners.
