Why does my account have a label?

We have found that your account may contain spam or be engaging in other types of platform manipulation. You may not use Xโ€™s services in a manner intended to artificially amplify, suppress information, or engage in behavior that manipulates or disrupts peopleโ€™s experience or platform manipulation defenses on X.

What does this mean for my account?

The reach of your account may be limited and its content may also be temporarily restricted, such as being excluded from trends, replies, and recommended notifications. Learn more.

Our range of enforcement options

When we take enforcement actions, we may do so either on a specific piece of content (e.g., an individual post or Direct Message), on an account, or employ a combination of these options. In some instances, this is because the behavior violates the X Rules. Other times, it may be in response to a valid legal request from an authorized entity in a given country. Below are some of the enforcement actions that we may take.

Post-level enforcement

We take action at the post level when a specific post violates the X Rules, including posts that share or reproduce other posts by posting screenshots, quote-posting, or sharing post URLs that violate our Rules.

A few of the ways in which we might take action at the post level include:

Limiting post visibility: Where appropriate, we will restrict the reach of posts that violate our policies and create a negative experience for other users by making the post less  discoverable on X. This can include:

  • Excluding the post from search results, trends, and recommended notifications
  • Removing the post from the For you and Following timelines
  • Restricting the postโ€™s discoverability to the authorโ€™s profile
  • Downranking the post in replies
  • Restricting Likes, replies, Reposts, Quote posts, bookmarks, share, pin to profile, or Edit post

Excluding the post from having ads adjacent to it: Starting in April 2023, posts identified as violating our Rules will begin to receive labels informing both post authors and viewers that we limited the postโ€™s visibility.

Authors will be able to submit an appeal on the label if they think we incorrectly limited their postโ€™s visibility.

Requiring post removal:  When we determine that a post violated the X Rules and the violation is severe enough to warrant post removal, we will require the violator to remove it before they can post again. They will need to go through the process of removing the violating post or appealing our removal request if they believe we made an error. The post will be hidden from public view with a notice during this process.

Labeling a post: If we determine a post contains misleading or disputed information per our policies that could potentially lead to harm, we may add a label to the content to provide context and additional information to users. In these cases, Community Notes may also be visible on posts to provide additional context.

Notice of public interest exception: We may determine that it is in the public interest for a post that would otherwise be in violation of our rules to remain accessible on our service. When this occurs, we will place the post behind a notice and limit its visibility. Learn more about the public interest exception.

Direct Message-level enforcement

Stopping conversations between a reported violator and the reporterโ€™s account: In a private Direct Message conversation, when a participant reports the other account, we will stop the violator from sending messages to the account who reported them. The conversation will also be removed from the reporter’s inbox. However, if the reporter decides to continue to send Direct Messages to the violator, the conversation will resume.

Placing a Direct Message behind a notice: In a group Direct Message conversation, the violating Direct Message may be placed behind a notice to ensure no one else in the group can see it again.

Account-level enforcement

We take action to suspend an account if we determine that a user has engaged in repeated violations of our policies and/or violated specific policies that cause significant risk to X (i.e. posting illegal content, attempts to manipulate our platform or spam users, using our platform to incite violence, etc.) or pose a threat to our users (fraud, user privacy violations, violent threats, targeted harassment, etc.).

Placing an account in read-only mode: We may temporarily limit an accountโ€™s ability to post, Repost, or Like. The user can read their timelines and will only be able to send Direct Messages to their followers.

Verifying account ownership: We may require an account owner to verify ownership with a phone number or email address. Note that when an account has been locked pending completion of a challenge (such as being required to provide a phone number), it is removed from follower counts, Reposts, and Likes.

Users can appeal account suspensions if they believe we made an error. They can do this through the platform interface or by filing a report.

Actions we may take against non-violating content

Placing a post behind a notice: We may place some forms of sensitive media like adult content or graphic violence behind an interstitial advising viewers to be aware that they will see sensitive media if they click through. Learn more about how to control whether you see sensitive media.

Withholding a post based on age: We restrict views of specific forms of sensitive media such as adult content for viewers who are under 18 or viewers who do not include a birth date on their profile with interstitials

Withholding a post or account in a country: We may withhold access to certain content in a particular country if we receive a valid and properly scoped request from an authorized entity in that country. Read more about country withheld content.

๐ŸŒŸ WE DID IT! ๐ŸŒŸ
We smashed our target for The Big Give and raised over ยฃ8,000 in under two weeks! ๐Ÿš€

We couldn’t have done it without your help, so from everyone at The Kids Network, we’d like to say a massive ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone that pledged, donated and spread the word โค๏ธ

The ยฃ8,000 you’ve helped us to raise is equivalent to roughly 400 hours of dedicated, child-led mentoring for little Londoners.

Children in London are bearing the brunt of the Cost of Living crisis, with more and more children unable to enjoy activities outside of home and school, and feeling stressed, anxious and isolated.

Your donations will provide a lifeline, enabling children to have fun, explore London, try new acitivities, and enjoy one-to-one support every week from their TKN mentor ๐ŸŽ

Thank you for supporting little Londoners!
It’s not too late – click here to donate now

WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!
We’re so happy that The Big Give Champions For Children was a success, but we still need your help!

We rely entirely on donations to deliver our mentoring programme for 300 little Londoners in need of support each year.

If you missed out on donating to The Big Give, it’s not too late to support children in your community!

Please give ยฃ5 a month to help improve the mental health of little Londoners with one-to-one mentoring.

MY FUTURE MATTERS

Throughout The Big Give’s Champions For Children campaign, we asked our mentees to tell us how they imagine their future.

It is so vital for children to have the space and confidence to feel positive about the future and dream.

With your help we can support children before inequality affects their wellbeing and aspiration, to help them DREAM BIG!

Thank you for supporting little Londoners.

We know that without you, we could not achieve this incredible impact for children in London.

We look forward to welcoming you to our first online meeting next week – there is still time to register if you haven’t already

14 June 2024
Dear Resident Panel member

You will have heard the news that a General Election is happening on Thursday 4 July. As an arm’s length public body, the Housing Ombudsman’s work will continue, however we will not publish any determinations during this time known as the pre-election period. We are also not able to discuss any matters that might be viewed as political at speaking events, however, we are pleased to let you know that the first Resident Panel 2024-27 meeting will still take place next week via Zoom, as planned.

Resident Panel meeting on Tuesday 18 June
We are looking forward to meeting those of you that have signed up to join next weeks’ meeting which will take place via Zoom on:

Tuesday 18 June 2024 at 5pm to 6pm

If you have not signed up yet and would like to attend, then please register below.

Ask the Ombudsman
At the meeting the Housing Ombudsman will be answering questions you sent us following our last email to you.

Thank you to those of you that submitted a question for the Ombudsman. We received a lot of excellent questions and will try to cover as much ground as possible.

It is unlikely that we will have the time to cover every query at this first meeting, but we hope to use this regular mailing dedicated to our members to share learning and continue to improve the information on our website.

Any questions that do not get answered at the meeting, we will provide a written response after the election.

Do you need help using Zoom?
Our Resident Panel is made up of residents that live in social housing across all areas of England. As a national panel, all our meetings take place on Zoom.

We have put together this helpful guide to let you know what to expect from virtual meetings – from how to register to the meeting itself.

How panel meetings work
What it means to be a panel member
Since the panelโ€™s appointment, we have received several queries about incentives for panel members. As a member of the Housing Ombudsman panel, you will receive invitations to join meetings with the Ombudsman and its team, asked for your say on consultations, and to provide evidence to our reports and asked for feedback via surveys.

The Panel will meet around 4 times per year, and we will also sometimes invite you to join smaller, topic focused groups based on the information that you provided when you applied to join.

We understand you have busy lives, and we would like to stress that there is no requirement to respond to every request for information or attend every meeting.

As a member of the Housing Ombudsman Resident Panel, you will get to:

  1. Share yourย experiencesย
Tell us about your experiences to help us identify areas where services can be improved and help us make sure residents are at the centre of our work.ย
  2. Shape our serviceย
Attend regular meetings with the Ombudsman and have your say via short surveys, consultations, and virtual discussions. Your feedback will give residents a voice in everything we do.ย
  3. Learn moreย about theย Housing Ombudsmanย
Be the first to hear aboutย the work we are doingย to improve landlord servicesย and howย itย willย positivelyย impactย residents living in social housing.ย ย
  4. Talk to othersย
We want to make sureย our service isย accessibleย to all residentsย that liveย in social housing.ย As a Panel member, you canย help us reachย residents in your local community andย raise awareness the service.ย

Please note that you will not be paid for being a member of the panel, and we cannot provide IT equipment. We are also unable to discuss individual complaints at meetings or via the resident panel inbox.

If you need help with a complaint about your landlord please contact the Dispute Support team via info@housing-ombudsman.org.uk

Resident Panel Charter
Housing issues the Housing Ombudsman can consider
Some of the questions we received were about housing issues that fall outside of our remit to consider. The Housing Ombudsman considers complaints about the housing management activities of a social housing landlord – for example, complaints about repairs, property condition and its response to reports of antisocial behaviour.

We cannot look at complaints about how a local authority allocates properties through its housing register or their duty to provide homelessness assistance. These complaints should be referred to the Local Governement and Social Care Ombudsman.

More information on the housing issues we can consider is available on our website. It would be helpful to get your views on this page – you can provide website feedback via our website or send it to us directly at residentpanel@housing-ombudsman.org.uk

What housing issues can the Ombudsman consider?

A safe space to share your views
We have set out expectations of panel members and when we may apply our policy on unreasonable behaviour.

About the Housing Ombudsman Service
We are a free and impartial dispute resolution service that investigates complaints from residents and leaseholders of member landlords (housing associations and local authorities), as well as for our voluntary members (private landlords and letting agents).

Our vision is to improve residentsโ€™ lives and landlordsโ€™ services through housing complaints.

Dear Trevor and Mervelee,

I am sorry to bother you, but the price I quoted originally for the grave purchase ยฃ7,055.35 was the prices for Camberwell Old Cemetery, Forest Hill.  The actual price for Camberwell New Cemetery, Supreme Grave was ยฃ8,794.30.  So unfortunately there is an outstanding amount of ยฃ1,738.95.

I hope this can be settled at your earliest possible convenience.

Kind regards,

To Whom It May Concern

Dear Ashton Funeral Directors – Brixton

Sorry to bother you, but can any future communications to do with my husband Arnold Ebenezer Tomlinson be sent to Trevor Anthony Tomlinson, his son and Executor of his WILL. I don’t mind being copied in. However, I have carried out all the instructions about the funeral and more to the best of my abilities.

My husband asked me to collect money that was outstanding, now Trevor can collect the amount and pay the outstanding and give me the rest. I am tired of being treated with disrespect and accused of all sorts by my husband’s families and members of those who made our lives a living hell the past 23 years.

Thanks for your understanding on this matter whilst am trying to stay out of prison and not become homeless because of how Trevor colluded with Deborah Agnes Gilchrist to torment us.

I am expecting Trevor Tomlinson to settle at his earliest convenience for my husband’s sake.

Kindest regards.

Mervelee Myers.

MVL newsletter – June 2024
Dear Media Volunteer,
At the end of April, it was announced that His Majesty King Charles III would become the Patron of Cancer Research UK.

This announcement, of course, is hugely exciting for the charity and we hope, with His Majesty’s help, we can accelerate the progress we make in cancer research.

Another seismic change on the horizon for us all comes in the form of a general election. This will take place on Thursday, July 4th with a new government set to meet on July 9th. This of course, will have huge implications on our work and it’s likely our Policy and Press teams will be asking for support from media volunteers.

Whatever July brings we’ll continue to need you, our media volunteers, to share your stories to help bring about change.
Thank you for being a media volunteer.
Best wishes,
Keyan Milanian

How your stories are helping us

Race for Life launch
Music lover and recovering ovarian cancer patient Shannon got to meet pop star Pixie Lott at this year’s launch of Race for Life.

The media volunteer was invited to Battersea Power Station to help launch the event, less than a mile from the location of the first ever Race for Life in 1994.

HPV vaccine
Media volunteer Gem shared her story last month to help us with a press release that revealed the HPV vaccine stops an incredible 90% of cervical cancer cases.
Gem was diagnosed in 2015 after attending cervical screening and now lives cancer free.

World Elder Abuse Day

Published 14 June 2024

Today, June 15, marks World Elder Abuse Dayโ€”a time to raise awareness about the mistreatment of older people. This day is recognized worldwide and aims to highlight the importance of protecting our elderly population. MM Response: I will be using relevant documents, videos, arguments in addressing this matter without breaching the injunction imposed to making me a voiceless, vulnerable, victim of the systemic discrimination leaving me with the aftermaths of Dr. Juanita Cox http://www.researchpaper.org.uk that I was a participant of “The Experience of Multiple Discriminationhttps://youtube.com/shorts/cgxZ5QIQct8?si=mPtw7s46_S57T4lL.

Elder abuse can take many forms: MM Response: Refer to Ref: MEL/HOU16/258/239677 for the classic case of the many forms of “Elder Abuse” that was inflicted on Mervelee Myers and Arnold Tomlinson from after the 13th December 2021 https://youtu.be/umCkr178Nhw?si=_JzRqdXZ7Dj14nCp.

Including physical harm MM Response: Refer to various reports to the Metropolitan Police from Holly Sweeny led Nikki Wright and 2 male colleagues to my home on the 30th November 2020 under cover of the LEYF http://www.leyf.org.uk Margaret Horn Lecture. The MOPAC Report of Neil Solliss and Nikki Babb will be used to expose how the Metropolitan Police is party to Elder Abuse of Mervelee Myers from 2017. Met Police Call Reference CHS 30255/01Feb23 and http://bit.ly/3wCQSHD and http://bit.ly/409wzyV and http://bit.ly/3DIPDQx for more.

Emotional distress https://youtu.be/M1keBzhYQqE?si=QLdlp3pRSPZubhbC, Neglect https://youtu.be/wg77wbNT8Kg?si=_rJKUeMsNgnhqk5_, https://youtu.be/UU3Y9wibgLY?si=zxlxhcyG9KbPKXmQ and financial exploitation https://youtu.be/taA14IVIm9g?si=R4i5-2sXFmS6RxRZ. Unfortunately, this abuse often goes unnoticed because older people are often too scared or embarrassed to speak out. Refer to Mervelee Myersโ€™ Fight4justice Isย Continuing and https://www.gov.uk/employment-tribunal-decisions/ms-m-myers-v-london-early-years-foundation-2300047-2016 for more.

At Housing for Women, we believe in supporting and protecting vulnerable groups, including older women. Dear Ms Myers,

My name is Gayle Lewis, and I am a Patient Complaint Officer at Kingโ€™s College Hospital. My reason for contacting you is to introduce myself and to confirm we are taking the concerns you raised about your recent experience at Kingโ€™s forward through the formal complaints process.  The Trust aims to have investigated your concerns within 40 working days. Once our investigations are complete we will send you a formal response in a letter from one of our Executive team.  If at any stage we find we need more time to complete our investigations we will contact you to inform you of this.

I have read your account of what happened and apologise that this led to you raising a complaint.

To aid our investigation into your concerns, I have listed key points that you have asked us to respond to.

ยท        Complainant arrived to witness Mr Tomlinson falling out of bed, the nurse accompanying the complainant did not notice this

ยท        Complainant decided to video events as wanted a record of the incidents that took place

ยท        Complainant states that nursing staff were abusive towards her and not caring for her husband appropriately

ยท        Security staff were called and ejected (roughly handling her, causing her fingernail to break) her from the building โ€“ she asked for her coat which was returned with money missing from the pocket.

ยท        Was safeguarding in place for complainantโ€™s husband

To ensure we understand the key points within your complaint that you would like answered and to ensure a thorough investigation takes place, I want to ensure that I have accurately presented your key concerns.  It would also be helpful to understand the outcome you are seeking.  Typical outcomes from raising a complaint would be:

โ€ข             An official explanation in the form of a written response.

โ€ข             An apology for a poor experience.

โ€ข             Process improvements to help ensure a similar occurrence does not happen in the future.

โ€ข             Potential retraining for staff, if identified through the course of the investigation.

I would be grateful if you could confirm this is a fair reflection of your concerns for our investigation.  If this is not correct, or you have additional issues you would like us to investigate, then please contact me to confirm these points.

If you need communication support such as an interpreter or information in another language, audio, Braille, Easy Read or large print, please let me know. If there is anything you wish to discuss about your case, please either email or contact Olivia on 0203 299 4515.

With kind regards

Gayle Lewis
