Would you like to learn more about how to talk about cancer, reducing risk and early diagnosis? Talking about cancer can save lives. We are offering a training that will equip you with the skills and confidence to have conversations about cancer and health with people in your community.

We are particularly interested in hearing from you are interested in developing skills to support community research activities including engaging with and carrying out insight work with communities and strengthening ability to communicate health-related information.

Ambassadors needed to decide to grant recipients

We are looking for an Ambassador to help decide who should receive the “Addressing health inequalities through increasing cancer screening uptake” grant programme funding. The Ambassador will sit on a scoring panel, alongside individuals from Southwark Council and South East London Cancer Alliance.

Please note, to be on the scoring panel you must NOT have applied for the grant or have connection to any organisation who has applied for the grant. The role should not involve more than 10 hours work, but availability over the next 2-3 weeks will be required.

Cost of Living: Support and Services in Southwark

26 October, 2pm-3pm, online

Southwark Council is hosting an online information session for staff and volunteers working with individuals and families that are likely to be heavily impacted by the cost of living crisis. Join this session to find out more about the support available to the people you are working with. Information will include:

• Finding the right advice and support

• Southwark’s Local Support Team

• Food initiatives

• Fuel/ energy schemes

• Charitable grants

The session will be led by Chloe Harvey, External Opportunities Lead for the Children’s & Adults Directorate, Rebecca Harkes, Public Health Policy Officer, Freya Tracey, Public Health Intelligence Analyst, Eugene Nixon, Head of Strategy & Compliance. Citizen’s Advice Southwark will also join the session.

Background:

The cost of living has been increasing across the UK since early 2021 and in April 2022, inflation reached its highest recorded level. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimates that it is now higher than at any time since around 1982, affecting the affordability of goods and services for households. Low-income households spend a larger proportion than average on energy and food so will be more affected by price increases. Approximately 21% of Southwark’s population live in communities ranked within the most deprived nationally.

COVID-19 Updates

Autumn Booster Update

The NHS director of vaccinations and screening Steve Russell said: “There is no room for complacency in keeping Covid-19 on the backfoot, and this autumn booster will help protect those most at risk.” Please encourage those eligible to come forward and get their booster as soon as possible.

The autumn COVID-19 booster is now being offered to the following groups:

• people aged 50 and over

• carers

• pregnant women

• the severely immunosuppressed (able to self-declare and attend walk-in sites)

• frontline health and care workers

Those who are eligible will be able to book their vaccination through the national book system or phoning 119, as long as it has been 3 months since their last dose.

In many places, you will able to get the flu and COVID jab at the same time.

COVID-19 Vaccine Information

NHS South East London ICS are currently offering COVID-19 vaccinations as follows:

• Everyone aged 5 and over can get a 1st and 2nd dose

• 16+, and some children aged 12 to 15, can get a booster dose.

• 5+ who had a severely weakened immune system when they had their first 2 doses, will be offered a 3rd dose before any booster doses.

• Over 50s, carers, pregnant women, and frontline health and care workers can now book their autumn booster (see above section)

• Find a walk-in clinic (local list via NHS SEL ICS website)

Events & Involvement

Black History Month events in Southwark

Southwark Presents has developed a programme of events and workshops throughout the month. The team have worked with a range of wonderful individuals and organisations to make sure there’s a local event for everyone in the borough and something for people of all ages and interests. A few are listed below, but please make sure to visit the website here!

• ONE Picture My Story – photo display, Nunhead and Ca,berwell Library (1-31 October, 10am-6pm): a collection of oral history stories, reminiscences, thoughts and photographs from Southwark’s Black heritage communities gathered during 2021 and 2022. The project is a collaboration between Southwark Archives, SYRUP and the London College of Communication.

• ‘Faith, Hope & Glory’, Southwark Heritage Centre & Walworth Library (20 October, 6pm-7pm): Richard Reddie, the author whose books include ‘Abolition’, ‘Black Muslims in Britain’ and ‘Martin Luther King Jr: History maker’, shares insights from his recent book: ‘Race for Justice’, an inspirational book which showcases the efforts of practitioners who have worked at a grassroots level, across a variety of denominations, to champion race and inclusion.

• For Coloured Girls (The Saphire Community Group), Peckham Levels (30 October, 6pm-9pm): Join for a night to inspire and uplift young black women. We aim to talk about passions and dreams while giving advice.

Parents and carers of children aged 1-9 can learn more about the importance of vaccinations and have their questions answered at special webinars hosted by some of south east London’s leading NHS consultants and public health experts this month.

Just walked from the etc venues Monument to my home in Bermondsey. Took me under 1 hour, I’m back in better shape. Just need to get closures from LEYF Nurseries to get on with the rest of my life. Encounter the characters, stories and songs that make Brixton resonate, in an intimate, moving and ultimately uplifting performance experience. Led by the knowledge of Black Brixtonites, we journey into the heart and fire of what empowers this unique place.

How to use SONGSTREETS

Download Aswarm XR’s mobile app (App store for iOS) (Google Play for Android) while at home or somewhere with a strong Wi-Fi connection, like the library.
Once downloaded head to the starting point of the walk which is 30 yards to the right on exiting Brixton Tube station (Near Pret) 419 Brixton Road, Brixton, London, SW9 8HE / GPS coordinates: 51.463087, -0.114776).
Once there, open Aswarm XR app and click on “SONGSTREETS” from the menu. (Note: The App may take 1-5 mins to download & open).
The App will instruct you from there – Enjoy your journey!

Things to note:

SONGSTREETS is an immersive audio-walk that takes approximately 45mins-1hr to complete with seated breaks. It’s designed to be experienced with earphones.

About the project

During October 2022, Indigenous Australian musician Jessie Lloyd undertook a residency in Brixton, working with the community to discover songs and stories from the 75 years that have passed since the Windrush brought the first post-war migrants to London from the Caribbean. Applying the methodology she evolved to work with Indigenous Elders in her MISSION SONGS project, and collaborating with Brixton-born artist Tony Cealy, Jessie explored the commonalities of experience between Indigenous Australians and Black Britons, using music to commemorate local heritage, within global histories of racism and emerging processes of reconciliation. Jessie’s grandfather Albie Geia was a leader in the 1957 Palm Island Strike, which, like the events in Brixton in 1981, were labelled ‘riots’, leading to Albie’s imprisonment.

ORIGINS commissioned Brixton-based sound artist, Thor McIntyre-Burnie, and his public arts company Aswarm, to respond to Jessie’s residency; creating a site-specific, immersive experience that weaves the songs through the streets of Brixton and uncovers their extraordinary stories. The result is this immersive, interactive audio-walk, accessed through AswarmXR’s mobile app.

Starting near Brixton tube, you can take an hour’s walk through the streets, which become enlivened and theatrical through the music, voices and stories of local people. When you come out of the tube, turn right and start the app by the two large trees about 30 yards away!

Evaluation: I have been going through 4+ years of what I will discribe as hell here on earth in the United Kingdom, from 2004. Right now I am not even talking about my personal experiences with my ex Mr Malachi Myers. Because I afforded the hand of who knows better, do better and reconcilled our differences. I am of the beliefs that if a person do you 1 good out of 100 bads, I can be big enough to take the 1 good to cover the 99 bads.

That’s the way I would like to be thought of. When LEYF Nurseries – #LEYF set about to deny me my basic rights and entitlements, I offered them the chance to get the people who knows me to #mediate. Some of my postings are here on Facebook for Windows. Others can be found on my publications on LinkedIn and Google.

This of course was before I resorted to Passive Aggressive Behaviours when I was sent on Medical Suspension and Voice: the union for education professionals advice me what steps to take. Whilst on MS, my publications were being used by websites such as MQ: Transforming mental health, and others to support others. During the time I was carrying out research, I discovered Dr Maria Hudson of the Policy Studies Institute, recommendation to Acas.

I will have to try an be concise as I wrap up by saying that I write Open Letters to David Cameron, Bates Wells Braithwaite, Daily Express, #VOICE, and later Theresa May. But because LEYF have the backings of the Nursery World Magazine, editor #LizRoberts and others to join in with the discrimination, they think I was going to disappear. In the end I set up my Fight4justice.

But little could I believe that the HMCTS-Employment Tribunals Service would presided over another miscarriages of justice. So after clutching at straws with my limited Legal Knowledge, I am at the Employment Appeals Tribunal on the 19th October 2018. This time I am not on my own. But as can be seen from my horoscope, I have no expectations.

There is thing called the EYFS Welfare Requirements – Prime & Specific Areas. But how can LEYF Nurseries want to become the biggest in the #EarlyYearsSectors when some of their #LeadersManagers can’t deliver the #Primeareas of the EYFS?

So this morning got back from the Paper Shop to witness #2Birds on each sides of the columns outside my #Gate! I took this as a #GoodOmen to start off the week & started #Singing. After I finish #Cooking, I will be doing what I am best at #Campaigning with my #Writing & #OldFotos. I am not a BettingPerson, but I might decide to start a #Beggingting to help #Finance my #1Son #ElectionCampaign. I learn all the tricks about #MoneyManagement from #MamaLOU!

I was on the bus the other day when I heard this breda chatting pon him phone in a JA dialect – like me mean Raw chaw chat bad yard talk>>> Looked & it was a little fellow I used to c in Brixton years back. So he finished the conversation saying he going 2 wuk… & got off the bus>>> To my blinking surprise me was walking pass Marble Arch Station 1 even when I saw the said breda well set pon him blanket wid long ear ring dangling & U know wat I felt suh darn Ashamed! The breda had joined the Beggars near to that Begging Hot Spot that is always featured in the news? I quickly asked myself if this breda had become a VICTIM to the society in which he lived or wat? I felt so proud when I heard him saying he was going to work, only to come crashing down to earth wid a bump! He had the latest Gadgets – ICT, so I guess that’s the best way he could earn his money! Lord am begging U not to let me lose my way so I have to resort to all sorts? But then because I don’t know his STORY, I am going to try my best not to be too JUDGEMENTAL as we can’t always judge a book by its cover?

My recollections of the PARDNER: Mama the Hedge Fund Manager. Long before I had any sort of understanding about Money Matters my Mama was the Banker for a Pardner which she took over from another of the neighbours in GaGa Street. The initial inception of the Pardner I believed was set up by the poor in the community for the benefit of the very poor who had plans to make a go of an idea. Therefore the best ways of saving up for the essentials of life was to pool the money together so those who contributed could reap the sweet success of their hard work and labours.

Mama took over the Banker position from Ms Vicky, Cecil aka Mass Phantom Gillette missis when she succumbed to ill health and carried on for many years. People came from near and far to join this lucrative Small Poor People Business to set themselves up for a better life. Some people would throw more than one hand, pair up with others to go 1/2 & 1/2 or come up with ways to make their chances better in the long run. There were times when they asked for last & 1st hand draws to maximise their chances of getting business transactions sorted quicker.

There are no contractual agreements for Pardners & everything was done with more or less verbal undertakings that everything would be dealt with above board without the need for any one up man-ship or dishonesty involved. Some Bankers usually set a standard fee to be kept in safekeeping just in case any one decided to take their draw and then decided not to pay back. But mama never resorted to this tactic as she only allowed trustworthy persons to join her Pardner & those who joined came highly recommended.

Every one lived up to their responsibilities paying their hand at the agreed times, and mum left it up to the discretions of the people to give the Banker what they could afford. Mum always stated that every one’s circumstances are different, so she never had too much of an expectations. On reflections I am just thinking how everything ran so smoothly back then as everything was based on trusts & the beliefs in the nature of our fellow citizens. Back then everyone lived up to their responsibility as well as being accountable which were part of the values that were laid down.

Mama’s clients came from all over the parish and although she had no formal education could sign her name, & spell & pronounce. You’d be surprised how mum kept records of the people in the Pardner on the calendar. Over the ensuing years my education in knowing people’s names & who they related to had begun from those times and was to be a big part of my life. I ended up knowing as Ms Chicky would say all the Rags, Shags & Shagga-Raggas who lived in Westmoreland & even further afield.

So the Pardner Traffickers were my first venture into documenting as the Pardner was sometimes dropped of at home by persons ranging in age from the very young to the old. Whoever was at home could collect the money, making sure they kept records of who the money was from. Mama was Banker up to the time when I left JA for the UK. After that she joined Ms Maizie Campbell’s and last Joy’s Pardner & if I am not mistaken she may still be in Joy’s one still?

So a big shout out to all those honest persons back in the days for whom the humble Pardner became the bedrock & mainstay of their life & livelihood. What would poor people have done without the forward thinking person’s from all walks of life who found ways to take themselves out of poverty by breaking the chains of deprivations. Mama did not need a formal education nor any qualifications to teach her how to be a BANKER for a PARDNER. Like everything else she undertake in her life, she was a Run-Away-SUCCESS in every sense of the words.

I am darn proud of my Mama & all those other persons who were & are Managing Pardners. I lift my hat to each & everyone & will always remember the dedication Mama brought to her role! XXX

Just can’t believe that in this October month when BHM is celebrated in the UK, all traces of OUR Heritage would be effectively wiped out. BHM which is very important to spreading the messages of the Multicultural Diversity & Heritage of the Children & Off-springs of Migrants are being wiped from the CURRICULUM of the EYs. My Heart bleeds for the children who are missing out, but there is nothing this WEE SMALL VOICE SHOUTING IN THE WILDERNESS CAN DO TO RECTIFY THE MATTER! Shame I say on the Small Minded Persons who are intent on stripping US of Our IDENTITY! Take the Pig out of the mud & put it in a White Shirt, it heading straight back into di mud go WALLAW cause it nuh know nuh different? Abstract

Within democratic societies, counter-terrorism is almost exclusively about crime prevention. A broad and holistic approach to preventing terrorism can be based on nine prevention mechanisms: building normative barriers against terrorism, reducing radicalisation and recruitment, deterrence, disruption, incapacitation, protecting vulnerable targets, reducing benefits to terrorists, reducing harm, and facilitating disengagement from terrorism. Counter-terrorist policies which are only based on a narrow range of repressive mechanisms and military measures tend to become overly heavy-handed, producing serious negative side effects which serve to enhance the problem rather than reducing it. A more holistic approach, making use of the entire range of preventative mechanisms, may lighten the impact of the “hard” measures by relying more on the impact of the “softer” and more positive measures to build moral barriers, reduce recruitment, and facilitate exit from terrorist movements.

My Fight4justice Campaign

My https://fight4justiceadvocacy.business.site campaign is my investment sharing stories about the two miscarriages of justice in the past twenty eight years leaving me a victim of the above ABSTRACT. I will be using the following to argue my claims about the discrimination which ruin my career and destroying my life. Since my recent experiences when www.met.police.uk decided to act like the terrorist in denying me my entitlement not to be discriminated against. Here is United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child: Article 14 states that it is basic entitlement of humans to enjoy their rights and freedoms without discrimination on any grounds. Let me refer to www.acas.org.uk/researchpapers of Dr Maria Hudson “The Experience of Discrimination on Multiple Grounds”. Because I was a participant who was interviewed at my home in 2010. Therefore LEYF www.leyf.org.uk must accept responsibility for the terrorism of Mervelee Myers using my vulnerability of having DISABILITIES to trigger my Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the death of my mother.

Disability Discrimination by LEYF

Let me say I was a graduate of www.open.ac.uk before I take up my employment with Westminster Children Society on 1 September 2009. I signed the Contract 7 October 2009 and during the https://www.gov.uk/…/ms-m-myers-v-london-early-years… realised that LEYF did not update the Contract in line with the Equality Act 2010. I hold several posts from the time I started working at Fitzrovia Community Nursery to when I was forced to resign from New Cross Community Nursery 27 September 2015. With the second nervous breakdown in a toxic work environment after experiencing bereavement and loss.

A Broad and Holistic Approach to Managing my Disabilities

I have been applying Early Intervention Strategies to managing my Childhood Traumas from the time my Primary School Teacher Ms Una Perry teach me to develop resilience. Although I was not aware at the time, I was using writing as therapy because my father was a storyteller. The fact that disabilities played major roles in my life meant I was an Informal Carer from an early age. As a matter of fact, I was a carer from the time my youngest brother was born. About three years later my father was stricken with Parkinson’s disease. My Personal Experiences of Parkinson’s Disease – Updated 17/8/2017 https://plus.google.com/100939131463790…/posts/YoJDpGvhGMG was from a Facebook post. I know more about Parkinson’s disease than most… was posted on 3/4/2015 when I was sent on Medical Suspension by LEYF in breach of all Rules of Law. It was www.voicetheunion.org.uk solicitor Arwen Makin who advised me and I was represented by Union Rep Darren Mahon, who disappeared after accompanying me to the Disciplinary Hearing. Now VOICE is still taking my money 5 years on from me not having a job. Therefore, VOICE is acting like a terror cell on behalf of LEYF.

My Complaint to Judicial Conduct Investigation Office

This is my second time complaining to JCIO and it is to do with Disability Discrimination. A Caseworker from JCIO has been assigned to my Case CRM: 0055203. The Caseworker’s name is Vincent Umeukeje and they will be in contact in due course. My Case Reference is – 33448/20 and am wondering how long due course is. Maybe the JCIO is waiting to hear that I was terrorised by the Police www.met.police.uk who visited my home on 30/11/2020 and I decided to become the statistic of 1 in 5 of all suicides are associated with unemployment in www.hctgroup.org Impact Report 2016. This was used by www.peachespublications.co.uk to send the Police to my home to section me on 30/10/2017. After I was scammed by https://www.ryanclement.com who groomed Winsome Duncan. Since then www.policeconduct.gov.uk proven they are party to terrorism by seeing counter-terrorism as almost exclusively about prevention. Instead of applying a more holistic approach. That is why I can go as far back as August 2000 when I was forced to seek refuge at the Brixton Police Station. I was the victim of Domestic Abuse, who became Homeless as a result. Although I was treated with VALIUM continuing from Jamaica, when I arrived in the UK for my Hidden Disabilities, I had a Chronic Anxiety Diagnosis in July 2006. The GP said he was unable to give me a Medical Report for Parkinson’s disease because I did not have a Medical Diagnosis. I was sponsored by http://unison.org.uk for my Health & Social Care Level 2 Studies with www.aoug.org.uk the only course that I done an examination. I always chosen courses where I can prepare Assignments, so I do not have the pressures of examinations to trigger my Hidden Disabilities.

The Benefits of Studies

This is regards to my Hidden Disabilities that prevented me from achieving my potentials from the time I developed the signs and symptoms of my Father’s disability. During studies I decided to adapt the “Holistic Approach” to managing my disabilities from 2006. I found an outlet for my passion of writing throughout studies at https://www.lambethcollege.ac.uk 1997-1999. My peers used to rely on me to interpret and feed back to them and told me I could be the tutor. I was encouraged to use my assignments as a BOOK by my tutors, who advised me to attend university. Because of the challenges of living with domestic abuse I could not take up the offer. I went to work, and my CV is evident of how important training was for updating my knowledge. On the 19/9/2015 when I meet Dr Chris Pascal OBE www.crec.co.uk and Professor Tony Bertram EECERA https://www.eecera.org I told them about my intention of gaining my SEND Teacher Qualification for returning to Jamaica. I was endorsed on https://www.linkedin.com on 22/9/2020 the date when Senior HR Dilys Epton sent me LinkedIn Request. I was invited to LEYF CO for chat with Neil King. All I will say on this matter is LEYF was not operating any of the nine preventative mechanisms that are inclusive of the broad and holistic approach to preventing terrorism.

I will state categorically that LEYF set out to radicalise me after the death of my mother and I transferred to BIB. That is why I take exception to Sargant Patel asking me if I have a British Passport at Walworth Police Station on 30/11/2020. Because the POLICE acted as terrorists and were in breach of every Rules of Law from the time, I opened my door and invited them in. As well as discrimination of the Protected Characteristics of the Equality Act that I fall into. They are Disability, Race, and Religion of which the Employment Tribunal Services presided over two miscarriages of justice against me.

Becoming Victim of my Intellectual Property

I graduated from Lambeth College with a Student of Year Certificate. Evaluation: I am going to dedicate this to a bloke I know from home. I see his breda’s Monro Ralston post, started writing and Facebook Login Alerts decided to get it to disappear. I am doing this to honour the memory of a super doopa young man I know as #Bud #Son_Son and discovered today to be #Ruel. I have been making discoveries of late so I learned about a #Roland, etc.

Here’s my little tribute to Carmen Lawrence and her brood who were fathered by Ruel Jennive Munroe and her siblings. Honest to God, I am getting older and losing some of the information from my youth. As Rucklyn says and I am in total agreement with him, some of us do things because we are not versed with the fact. By the time we are trying to make amends it is just too late and we end up with regrets. Like in the case of my breda #ASHTER and #BUD who died more years than some of these youngsters have been around.

I know the Lotoya Munroe family on both sides, Carmen and Ruel. Right now I will focus on my tribute to Son-Son. I know all of Mass Lisha and Ms Daphney children. I was lucky to meet Mass Lisha mother when I spent time with my #AuntieClarisParkins in Hanover. She was my auntie’s neighbour.

I know about the partnership of the lovey dovey young boy and girl, straight out of schools. Yes we were quick off the marks back then. I was home recently and established acquantances with an admirer. I am sure some people are not aware of this, because you know what, I am/was secretive about my beaus.

So Bud used to come calling for this his friend, after I have Kevin Murray. Everything was going okay, until Mama Lou realised that Bud was coming to call me for his friend from up the Cross Roads. Mama put down her foot and said “Ratty over my dead body, it can’t happen in here. You are family, when blood touch blood, the pitney dem come tun idiot”.

That was the end of that then. I was surprised learning that the young man didn’t know I am Valdin Legister. So people please don’t assume that certain fact are known to others.

Rucklyn, mate maybe now you can understand why I refuse to let anyone get away with disrespecting my family and friends. They can say all they want to about me, like I am #mad, #mean and don’t have #money. But they will have to take whatever they get. Before anyone beginning to wonder and start calling round the place to find out who Bud’s friend is/was, I will have to get his permission to divulge the information. It’s called GDPR. The fellow not talking to me, so there is no way I can get his consent to do that. So sorry, you will have to wait until I get back to Jamaica to go back and find out if DaDa remember what I told him I am going to do with his son?

RIP #Son_Son, #Bud #Ruel. I will remember you for the easy going friend that you were. The one who would help his friend to get a girlfriend. Wondering if Mr Tie Out remember about this?

What strikes me about this #Foto is Mama hiding her #Thumb! Honestly I can’t recall when it dawned on me how #Sensitive Mama was about that #LostDigits, but I went back to look at all her old fotos & came up with my #Conclusions?
