View in browser Dear Mervelee, Everyone affected by dementia should have equitable access to excellent levels of services and support, regardless of their location, background or specific diagnosis. But too many people still struggle to access tailored dementia support that recognises their particular needs and circumstances. This includes people from ethnic minority communities, LGBTQ+ communities, people with young onset dementia and people living with learning disabilities and dementia. People from diverse and under-served communities often experience stigma and obstacles in accessing dementia health and social care services, such as language barriers and a lack of services tailored for their unique circumstances. People may fear prejudice and experience a lack of dignity or respect. These challenges can make people reluctant to ask for help, increasing the risk of isolation, family breakdown and crisis.
