Dear Resident Panel member
We hope you are well.
Thank you to those of you that attended the first panel meeting on Tuesday 18 June. The meeting was held in the style of one of our national Meet the Ombudsman events, where the Ombudsman answered questions pre-submitted before the meeting. If you missed the meeting or would like to watch it again – you can catch up on the recording below.
We are excited to let you know that we have built a brand-new online hub exclusively for Resident Panel members. Read on to access the new engagement platform and have your say on how we communicate with the panel.
In other news, this month we will be hosting the first special interest discussion on how the Housing Ombudsman can help shared owners with housing complaints.

Catch up on the recording from the panel meeting on 18 June
If you missed the panel meeting on 18 June, or would like to watch it again, you watch a recording of the meeting via the link below. The panel met Housing Ombudsman, Richard Blakeway, and Chief Operating Officer, Andrea Keenoy, who answered questions pre-submitted by panel members.
We had lots of excellent questions and will answer more of the questions we received before the meeting and in the meeting chat, after the election has taken place on 4 July.
We also wanted to let the panel know that there is no expectation of attending every meeting or responding to every survey. You do not need to send us an email if you are unable to attend a meeting due to other commitments – we know that everyone has busy lives!

Introducing the brand-new Resident Panel Hub
We are excited to tell you that we have a brand-new online engagement platform with a hub exclusively for Resident Panel members! Via the hub, you will be able to provide feedback through surveys, have your say on the latest consultations from the service and provide evidence for reports.
The Hub is now live, and the first survey is available for your feedback. The survey will ask for your views on your panel experience so far, what you would like to see over the next 3 years and your preference for when meetings should be held.
Head over to the hub to access the first survey!
Later this month, panel members will also be invited to have their say on the annual resident and landlord survey and provide evidence that will feed into a Spotlight Report on complaints about contractors.

Special interest discussion on Shared Ownership complaints
Earlier this week, we sent an invite to members of the panel that told us they own part of their home to invite them to a special interest discussion which will take place via Zoom on:
Thursday 25 July 2024 at 5pm to 6pm
Special interest discussions are online meetings where a smaller group will talk about a specific topic or issue that we see across our casework or in the sector. If you are a shared owner and have not received an email invite to this meeting, then please get in touch at residentpanel@housing-ombudsman.org.uk
Did you know we have Frequently Asked Questions on our website?
The Housing Ombudsman is working hard to provide a service that is open, transparent, and accessible. We are continuously working to improve the information for residents on our website to ensure it is helpful and easy to understand.
With the help of the previous Resident Panel, we have updated the Frequently Asked Questions on our website to include more information about our process and how landlords should handle complaints following the introduction of the Ombudsman’s statutory Code on 1 April 2024.
