Subject: Citz Writers Final Recruitment
Hello,
I hope this email finds you well.
We are still recruiting for the last few spaces for Citz Writers, led by Dramaturg Ola Animashawun. Please read below for more details about the programme.
Ola Animashawun is a National Theatre Associate and Connections Dramaturg and the co-founder and Creative Director of the playwriting consultancy, Euphoric Ink. He is also a former Associate Director of the Royal Court Theatre, where he worked for 23 years, during which time he founded and ran the Royal Court Young Writers Programme, and set up a nationwide writers’ programme – Critical Mass – which is dedicated to finding and nurturing new playwrights from the Global Majority.
The programme will run every Tuesday evening from Tues 13th September to Tuesday 6th December, 6pm – 9pm on Zoom.
This twelve-week course will continue to explore how and when theatre works by looking at what it means to:
- Write for the stage
- How to tell a story simply and dramatically through character-driven dialogue and present tense action
- Know your craft
- How to expose your audience to the extraordinary lives and behaviour of ordinary people.
In order to take part in the programme, you will need:
- Access to Zoom
- A notebook and pen
- A little time: there will be a small amount of work to complete between sessions
If you would like to continue on Citz Writers, please respond to this email expressing your interest as soon as possible. An expression of interest does not confirm your place on the programme. Due to my work pattern, I will be in contact with everyone on Tuesday 20th September to confirm whether you have a place on the programme. Please note that the workshop takes place that evening so only express your interest if you can come to the session.
It is important that if you are recruited for the programme you can commit to the sessions, so please check your availability before signing up. Please also remember that Members are only able to do either Citz Writers’ or Theatre Makers per term.
Please do not hesitate if you have any questions.
Best,
Esme
